According to Ginsburg Development officials, the plan will call for the construction of condominium housing units and retail space at the 30,000-sf parcel that is located nearby the City Center at White Plains retail/entertainment/housing project being built by Cappelli Enterprises of Valhalla. The 250 Main St. development is also situated across the street from The Shoppes on Main project being built at the site of the former Sears department store on Main St. and Hamilton Ave. Ginsburg Development/Ridgemour Meyer officials did not disclose the number of condominium units it plans to develop at the site, nor the amount of retail space it intends to build.
"White Plains has demonstrated in recent years that it is serious about creating a model downtown center that integrates residential, commercial and retail uses," Martin Ginsburg, principal of Ginsburg Development, says.
Ridgemour Meyer Properties has for the past few years been pursuing a plan to develop residential units at the site. The New York City-based firm has now teamed up with Ginsburg and expanded the development to include mixed-use space. The two firms have hired architect Michael Graves to design the development.
The plan is expected to be presented to Mayor Joseph Delfino and members of the White Plains Common Council during the month of January.
