BOR-SON Construction, general contractor for the project, recently held an information session at its on-site trailer for trades workers who are interested in working on the project. The project is looking for local residents to work on the project.
The Selby Area CDC has partnered with Legacy Management & Development Corp. to construct a mixed-use building on Selby Avenue on a portion of vacant land between Grotto and Avon streets, an old and diverse area of St. Paul. Thirty-four units are designated tax-credit units; six are market-rate; and five units are reserved for Minnesota Family Income Program welfare-to-work participants earning at or below 30% of the area's median income.
The project is being built with money from these sources: HUD, $2.78 million; Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (two funds), $853,856; Ramsey County Endowment, $200,000; City of St. Paul (two funds), $870,000; and Family Housing Fund, $242,000.
