Thomas Herzog, most recently the Global Controller and Chief Accounting Officer at GE Real Estate, will join AIMCO as an SVP and chief accounting officer. GE Real Estate currently has $28 billion in assets.

Herzog begins his new job at AIMCO, the nation's largest apartment REIT by some measures, on Monday. He will assume oversight of AIMCO's accounting group and report to Paul McAuliffe, AIMCO's CFO.

Herzog brings 14 years of accounting and real estate experience to his responsibilities at AIMCO. Before joining GE Real Estate, Herzog worked at Deloitte & Touche for 10 years in audit and technical accounting.

"Tom Herzog will be a great addition to AIMCO," says McAuliffe. "Tom's experience in accounting and real estate, and Tom's responsibilities in running accounting at GE Real Estate, will be of great value to AIMCO."

AIMCO owns and operating a geographically diversified portfolio of apartment communities through 19 regional operating centers. Through its subsidiaries it operates about 1,685 properties, including approximately 300,000 apartment units, and serves about one million residents each year. AIMCO's properties are in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. AIMCO common shares are included in the S&P 500.
