St. Paul-based Frauenshuh Companies, a commercial real estate firm, donated the empty 92-year-old brick warehouse on the east edge of downtown to Project C.U.R.E.
"We know this distribution center and the generous contributions from our state's medical community will help address the healthcare needs of millions of people in developing nations," said Gary Lindstrom, an EVP at the Frauenshuh Cos.
Since 1987, the Denver-based Project C.U.R.E. has delivered goods and supplies to the ill and needy living in more than 95 countries around the world. St. Paul is the sixth U.S. city to host a Project C.U.R.E. operation. In 2004, Project C.U.R.E. will distribute more than 100 cargo containers of new, surplus and overstock medical supplies donated by domestic medical manufacturers, distributors, hospitals and clinics.
Minnesota is a good expansion destination for Project C.U.R.E. because over 8,000 healthcare-related organizations are located in the 350-mile corridor between Rochester, MN, and northern Minnesota.
