Mercado will be responsible for overseeing affordable housing development operations in the central US. Before joining Mercy Housing, Mercado worked as Housing Programs Manager for the City and County of Denver. He supervised Denver's housing project portfolio, representing more than $250 million in developments, and allocated the agency's housing resources valued at over $20 million annually.
Mercado also led the efforts to pass Denver's inclusionary housing and preservation ordinance, which began implementation during his term.
Previously, Mercado worked as Program Director for Local Initiatives Support Corp. in Arkansas, facilitating corporate sector investments in local affordable housing.
