Casinos statewide produced $698.3 million in adjusted gross proceeds in 2003, down 3% from $719.7 million in calendar 2002.
The down year was capped by sagging revenues in December, when casinos posted $54 million in AGP, down over 2% from $55.1 million in November and down more than 5.1% from December 2003.
AGP is most simply defined as the amount wagered by bettors less payouts from casinos.
Black Hawk's 22 casinos totaled $505.8 million in AGP in 2003, down 3.5% from $524.4 million in 2002.
Cripple Creek's 18 casinos generated $142.5 million in AGP in 2003, up slightly from $142.4 million in 2002.
Central City's five casinos reported $49.9 million in AGP in 2003, down 5.5% from $52.8 million in 2002.
In December, Black Hawk casinos accounted for 74.6% of the statewide market, with $40.2 million in AGP; Cripple Creek gaming establishments, 18.4%, with $9.9 million in AGP; and Central City casinos, 7%, with $3.7 million in AGP.
Casinos statewide paid $8.6 million in gaming tax proceeds in December.
