The Utah-based Tunex will build an 1,800-sf, six-bay repair shop at the northeast corner of Williams Field and Val Vista roads, which was just purchased for $375,000, Nick Miner with Colton Commercial of Tempe tells GlobeSt.com. Following the closing, the firm returned about 30,000 sf of the land to the market at an asking price of $400,000.
The company plans to open about 10 other repair shops in the Phoenix area over the next five years, Miner says. The firm, with a shop at Alma School and Guadalupe roads in Mesa, selected the Gilbert site because of its location near the new San Tan Freeway and a retail corner that has recently become a hotbed of growth in the area, he adds. While the Tunex deal was in escrow, a Kohl's, Eckerd Drug Store and Sonic restaurant were built on the surrounding land plus another 60 to 90 acres of retail development are planned nearby.
Miner represented the buyer in the land transaction. The seller, Gabel Investments of Scottsdale, was self-represented.
