J.O. Oltmans III of Oltmans Construction tells GlobeSt.com that the new building consolidates and relocates warehouse space from other locations for the kitchen products distributor, which has required increasing amounts of space as it has grown considerably in recent years. The company distributes its products throughout the country via major retail stores, drug stores, grocery stores and specialty outlets.
The 460,000-sf, $18 million expansion stands next to Bradshaw's 313,000-sf headquarters building, which Oltmans enlarged in an earlier project, J.O. Oltmans notes.
The new distribution facility occupies a 22-acre site at Buffalo Avenue and Fourth Street. Bradshaw will employ approximately 250 workers at the building, which is a concrete tilt-up structure featuring an ESFR sprinkler system, 30-foot clear minimum warehouse space, and 12,000 sf of office space. Hill Pinckert Architects of Newport Beach designed the building.
Bradshaw was founded in 1969 and, in addition to marketing kitchenware, distributes kitchen tools and gadgets, food storage and tabletop products, bakeware, and cookware under "The Good Cook" brand. The "Good Cook" brand is distributed in more than 30,000 stores and has captured 43% of the market in drug and grocery stores, according to Bradshaw's web site.
Oltmans Construction Co. is ranked among the top l0 commercial and industrial contractors based in Los Angeles County, and was recently ranked among the nation's top five builders of distribution facilities by Engineering News-Record magazine.
