Doug Patterson, the Canadian Consul in Denver, says the building was chosen because of its location in the heart of Colorado's political, financial and commercial community. Ralph Lidge of Cushman & Wakefield represented the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs in the long term lease transaction. David Morrison and James Mansfield of Brookfield represented ownership in the lease negotiations.

The World Trade Center is the focal point for the city's international trade business, according to Morrison. He notes as home to the Rocky Mountain World Trade Center Association, the building, at the upper end of the 16th Street mall, has become a popular office location for public and private global companies. Synergy with other internationally focused tenants was another factor in choosing the World Trade Center building, according to Patterson.
