Highlights of the expansion will include the following. First, the existing media center and four classrooms will be remodeled to create a larger media center and counseling offices with testing area.
Secondly, existing locker rooms at the main gym will be remodeled to create a new weight room. A new special needs area will be created from an already existing space.
Finally, both the band room and the special needs room each will be remodeled to create two new classrooms. The total design and construction cost for the project is $4.1 million, part of a bond initiative passed last November.
"The Neenan Company conducted a Collaborative Design Process with school administrators, board members, teachers, and the community to define design and construction solutions," says Marty Foster, Superintendent of Schools. "With a precise scope, combined with cost and schedule information, Weld County voters understood why the new space was needed and where the tax money would be used. It made the decision to pass the initiative much easier to make and gave good reason for construction to take place."
