McStain row homes range from two to five bedrooms and 1,400 to 2,200 sf. About half of the homes will feature penthouses with rooftop decks. Prices begin from the mid-$200,000s. McStain will begin construction this spring, with homes available for sale starting in September.
"One of the key factors in choosing to build at Belmar was a shared vision, with master developer Continuum, of a community where people live, work, shop and play," says Eric Wittenberg, president of McStain Neighborhoods. "We see increased demand from consumers seeking a living environment that is conducive to strong social interaction—-and Belmar will be that type of community."
Continuum is constructing 12 one-story, one-bedroom units above retail space. The loft-style condominiums, which are approximately 1,020 sf with 10-ft ceilings, off-street parking, and terraces or balconies, begin at $233,000. They will be available in May.
Initially, three types of rental homes will be available. Included in the first phase are eight 1,200-sf townhome-style apartments located over street-level retail that will be available in May.
Also available will be 43 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments over ground-floor retail space ranging from 650 to 1,000 sf. Rents on these units will be set in May. The remaining 66 apartments are one-, two- and three-bedroom units and range from 650 to 1,000 sf. These units will be available at the end 2004.
When completed, Belmar will have more than 1,300 homes including townhomes, loft-style condominiums, live/work units and a variety of apartments. The first phase of Belmar will open May 14. The 104-acre development is at Wadsworth Boulevard and West Alameda Avenue.
