Westland Avenue Trust redeveloped the building into 10 one-bedroom units and 10 two-bedroom units. "These new units will help further revitalize the Fenway neighborhood and create even more housing in the city," says Mayor Thomas M. Menino. "I continue to be committed to the housing issue and I'm proud of this development as it creates a more prominent corner at the intersection of Westland Avenue and Hemenway Street."

The existing structure was previously a three-story building with commercial space that housed a restaurant, laundry facility and four residential units. The former building had substantial structural problems due in large part to ground water problems prevalent in this part of the city. The reconstruction of the building involved the addition of three-stories.
