"This project is the final piece of ourproperty's complete renaissance, " says resort general manager Jay Rocha.Vail Cascade Resort & Spa began the planning process with the addition of Chap's Grill & Chophouse in 2000. Shortly after, the resort followed withthe addition of Aria Spa & Club in October 2001. Aria isthe resort's 78,000-sf spa and club facility, and was recentlyranked as one of SpaFinder's Best Winter Sports spas for 2003.

In the third phase, $2 million was spent renovating the resort's 30,000-sf ofconference, event and ballroom space in July 2002. Designed to minimize the impact the project will have on guests, thelatest renovation will be undertaken one floor at a time and one wing at a time. The resort will remain "fully operational" during the renovation, Rocha says.

Elements of the Main Lodge and Terrace Room and Suite renovation include:a speckled, black marble threshold; striped carpeting; contemporary sitting area with leather chair, high-back pull-out couch;traditional wood tables and comfortable desk and chairs. The common area and corridors will include "hot spot" for wireless Internet access, colorful patterned carpets, natural wood baseboards, and the Terrace Wing elevators will be renovated with trowel wall treatments and wrought-iron acents.
