The Norwalk, CT-based Applera, formerly Applied Biosystems, renewed for the long term at 13215 N. Promenade Blvd., Mark Nicholas with Staubach Co.'s Houston team tells GlobeSt.com. Nicholas, who helped the firm find the space four years ago, says its investment of $2 million into customizing a portion of the 151,000-sf building kept Applera in place although it did "test the market" before signing on the dotted line for a building with a quoted rate of 43 cents per sf and a Freeport exemption on inventory tax held for less than 175 days.
Brian Gammill with Houston-based Transwestern Commercial Services represented the building owner, Bailard, Biehl & Kaiser Freeport LP, an investment advisory firm from Foster City, CA.
