Hooters leased the space through HootWinc LLC, the Southern California franchisee for the restaurant chain. Robert Flaxman, president of Crown, says the new restaurant will "help fill a void in the area's current restaurant mix," providing one of the few Downtown eateries to combine casual dining and watching sporting events in a relaxed environment.

Crown Realty & Development was represented in the transaction by Kirsten Lee of General Growth Properties. HootWinc LLC was represented by Irv Spilky of Spilky & Associates. The Third Party Management Division of General Growth Properties is responsible for the marketing, leasing and management of Media City Center.

Lee notes that the new Hooters restaurant's location at 600 N. 1st St., at the northwest corner of 1st Street and Cypress Avenue, will be in the open-air portion of Media City Center. She says site preparation and construction improvements are set to begin immediately.

Crown acquired Media City Center in 2003 and expects to complete the first phase of its renovations by the summer, according to Jim O'Neil, EVP of development for Crown.
