Susan Powers will develop a loft project with a large affordable component directly next to the museum building.
The museum will choose from six finalists. Architects from each firm recently were in Denver for public hearings and intense interviews. Finalists include:
* David Adjayes of Adjaye/Associates of London, whose work includes the British Pavilion and the Venice Biennale and the Ideal Store in London, which is currently under construction.
* Richard Gluckman of Gluckman Mayner Architects, New York City. Its work has included the Mori Museum in Tokyo, a 100,000-sf facility.
* Craig Dykers, whose firm of Snohetta, Oslo, Norway designed the Alexandria Library in Alexandria, Egypt.
* Hardrain Predock and John Frane of Predock Frane Architects, of Santa Monica, CA, which is designing the Central California History Museum in Fresno, CA.
* Enrique Norten, of TEN Arquitectos of Mexico City and New York City, who designed the Televisa building in Mexico City and has worked on the proposed Brooklyn Visual & Performing Arts Library.
* Rick Joy of Rick Joy Architects, Tucson, has designed the Tupac House in Arizona. He's mostly designed a number of small commercial projects and homes.
