The new center, anchored by a Stater Bros. supermarket, is adjacent to Lasselle Place, a $30-million, 304-unit luxury apartment complex currently being developed by Empire Commercial. Lakeside Plaza is Ontario-based Empire's second retail project to open within a year. The $15-million development is described by the company as a "highly amenitized infill center" that will cater to the growing Moreno Valley population.

The center, which features palm trees and upscale design elements, along with an outdoor food court, has opened at 85% pre-leased, and Empire expects it to be fully leased by the second quarter of this year. Tenants besides Stater Bros. include Panda Express, Subway, Big Guy's Pizza, The UPS Store and Cold Stone Creamery. New tenants due soon include a beauty salon and day spa, along with food, entertainment, health services, banking, dry cleaning and other neighborhood services.
