The $50-million addition to its 10-building campus is a product fulfillment center. The new facility features state-of-the-art, automated sorting systems as well as a paperless picking system for quickly and accurately processing large numbers of high-volume DVD and other package media orders.

The building is the latest step in the multi-phased expansion of the Memphis distribution operation, which services major studio clients such as Disney, Warner, Universal and Microsoft. Last year, the company added 922,500-sf packaging and distribution facility. All told, Thomson's Memphis complex encompasses 4.3 million sf of buildings. Thomson touts it as the world's largest home entertainment distribution center.

Thomson describes itself as a provider of technology and service solutions for integrated media and entertainment companies. Technicolor Home Entertainment Services, part of Thomson's Digital Content Solutions division, has an approximate 35% market share position in DVD and VHS packaged media orders both in North American and European markets. Its customers include Hollywood studios, independent rights holders, software developers, OEMs, game manufacturers, record labels, promotional agencies and direct marketers.
