Minnesota-based nonprofit developer Artspace Projects is behind the as yet unnamed property, which will cost $14.5 million to realize. In addition to the below market-rate combination live/work units, the property will feature 5,000 sf of commercial space for arts-related establishments.
"This project represents a major investment by the county to further the growth of the Gateway Arts and Entertainment District," says Thomas M. Thompson, director of Prince George's County Department of Housing and Community Development. "It sets the standard for affordable, yet quality living space consistent with the Livable Communities Initiative."
This project is the second of four such endeavors planned for the district. The first project was a 12-unit live/work development created in an historic building.
