The firm will shift operations from 21 Corporate Dr. to 255 Fuller Rd. at the Albany NanoTech complex. State officials say the firm will retain all 60 employees currently working at its Clifton Park headquarters and plans to add another 60 workers by the end of 2006. The company will invest more than $2 million in equipment and training over the next three years, state officials add.
CommerceHub officials also created a strategic partnership with Albany NanoTech whereby the two organizations will work jointly to formulate and optimize potential applications of CommerceHub's proprietary infrastructure to the nanotechnology and nanoelectronics industry sectors. CommerceHub and Albany NanoTech will also collaborate in the development and execution of workforce training and education programs for the e-commerce industry.
Commenting on the move, Frank Poore, president and chief executive officer of CommerceHub, says, "Our client base and order processing operations have significantly expanded over the past two years. This move will enable us to continue this growth unabated, and at the same time upgrade our data center and technology infrastructure to better serve our customers and their expansion."
The company joins IBM, General Electric, International Sematech North and others at the Albany NanoTech complex, located at the SUNY Albany campus.
Alain E. Kaloyeros, Ph.D., executive director of Albany NanoTech and dean of the School of NanoSciences and NanoEngineering, says, "As a premier e-business company, CommerceHub represents a critical enabling step in our strategic plan to build a vertically integrated portfolio of world-class manufacturers and suppliers to ensure the competitiveness of the region and state in the high-tech driven global economy of the 21st century." Some of CommerceHub's notable clients include QVC, Target, Sears, Staples, Costco, ShopNBC and Federated.
