4/14/04: If you can't beat ‘em, then buy ‘em. That's the unique tack IBM has undertaken in its recent announcement about the acquisition of a call center based in India. With much of this year's focus on outsourcing American jobs, IBM has taken a bold step in assuring that exporting jobs is not a fad, and in fact, is something that will continue for many years. What is really intriguing about IBM's strategy is that this corporation is actually taking more jobs onto its payroll. This will have a profound impact on the company's bottom line, not only from reduced costs that are incurred by outsourcing jobs which is expensive over the long term, but also increase the flexibility to add new jobs domestically.IBM's approach may not have the appearance of being politically correct, but in the long run, it’s the right move.
