Jeff Raymond says the mid-priced hotel, which will include a full-service restaurant and 7,000 sf of meeting space, will cater to travelers using O'Hare International Airport, about two miles south. The hotel is being built on the site of the former Forest Vue Lanes bowling alley, acquired in 2001 for about $2.9 million.

Raymond Management Co.'s portfolio includes Hampton Inns in Elgin, Hoffman Estates, Joliet, and Skokie. The 26-year-old company's two Joliet properties include a hotel less than two miles north of the Empress River Casino.

Bluhm, as well as a partnership hoping to build a casino on the site of the former Lakehurst Shopping Center in Waukegan, lost out last month to a bid from the Isle of Capri, Inc. to build in neighboring Rosemont. However, the gaming board's decision to award the state's 10th license to the Rosemont venture has come under intense scrutiny from Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Attorney General Lisa Madigan.

Rosemont-based McShane Construction Corp. is building the hotel, designed by Gary Brink & Associates, Inc. of Madison.
