Urban Neighborhoods, Inc., recently renovated the circa 1900 warehouse building for $2 million.
OZ occupies two floors and about two-thirds of the 27,000-sft building.
Urban Neighborhoods is owned by Dana and Jack Crawford. Dana Crawford is the developer-preservationist who saved such Denver landmarks as Larimer Square and Flour Mill Lofts. Urban Neighborhoods owns 5.5 acres of the 40-acre Prospect Neighborhood, with plans to construct about 2,000 lofts and apartments and 25,000 sf of shops within 10 years.
"OZ Architecture is dedicated to the future of cities and to infill sites within metro areas," says Jim Bershof, AIA, president of OZ Architecture's Denver studio. "We increasingly work in areas like mixed-use and transit-oriented development."
He notes its new office is a 10-minute walk from Union Station, which is projected to become the region's transit hub within 10 years.
"We believe such urban projects can be shaped to create very livable environments, while providing a strong alternative to sprawl, traffic congestion, and air pollution," Bershof adds.
"Much as design firms and artists colonized LoDo 20 years ago. OZ is leading the renaissance of the Prospect neighborhood," says Dana Crawford. "This area is becoming a magnet for architects, software engineers, people in real estate, artists, galleries, and other outposts of the so-called creative class."
Founded in 1964, OZ Architecture is a general practice firm with studios in Denver, Boulder and Summit County. In 2000, OZ was named the American Institute of Architects' Western Mountain Firm of the Year.
