Cedar Gate, which will rise on eight acres along East Cedar St. and Old Short Hills Rd. in this suburban town of 27,000 people, will be targeting young professionals and empty nesters. The cost of the project has not been disclosed. Westminster Communities, the construction arm of Kushner, expects to be in the ground this summer.

Cedar Gate is one of several projects Kushner is currently developing in the Garden State, as it looks to expand its portfolio of 25,000 residential units and 7.5 million sf of commercial space. Westminster Communities is serving as the redeveloper for the $600 million Landings at Harborside on the waterfront in Perth Amboy, NJ, and Kushner also expects to break ground this summer on 146 residential units in the first phase of the Oceanfront Asbury redevelopment project in Asbury Park.

Kushner has also announced plans for a mixed-use project in the marina area of Atlantic City (see earlier story).
