5/19/04: A new report by Forrester Research shows a 40% increase in its estimate of offshoring service-sector jobs--from 588,000 to 830,000 by 2005. Many firms that did not recognize the importance of outsourcing have come to realize that to remain competitive they better get on the bandwagon. What has fueled this awakening? The incredible media attention and political focus the issue has received. In other words, exposure of the issue has contributed to its growth. Particularly in the political arena, the intent was the direct opposite: to protect home-based jobs. In GlobeSt.com's own coverage, pundits suggest the need for business innovation to grow new jobs in the US. The outsourcing trend is growing; that's clear. So now, where's the innovation?
