For DSW, a discount retailer of shoes and accessories based in Columbus, OH, the store will be its seventh in New Jersey and its first in an NRDC-owned shopping center. The chain will join Wal-Mart (153,000 sf), Bed Bath & Beyond (30,000 sf), Joyce Leslie (10,500 sf) and Sleepy's (6,000 sf), among others, at the new complex.
Rockaway Center itself is situated adjacent to Rockaway Townsquare, a super-regional enclosed mall anchored by JC Penney, Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Target and Sears. The property will have direct access from I-80.
Rockaway Center is also part of a building spree that will, over the next two years, add nine projects and two million sf to NRDC's existing 14 million-sf retail portfolio. Other projects in New Jersey include the 242,000-sf Target-anchored Hadley Shopping Center II in South Plainfield and the 110,000-sf Commons in Phillipsburg.
