The Esplanade would comprise 86 attached townhomes, 118 loft-style condominiums, 73,000 sf of retail, 24,000 sf of office, a 29,250-sf grocery store and 717 parking spaces, Marietta planning department officials confirm. The development site currently houses the Johnny Walker Homes complex built in the 1940s, about 10 miles northwest of Downtown Atlanta.
The redevelopment will be subsidized partly through a tax allocation district approved last year. Madison Retail has asked the city for $10 million in tax district funding to building a parking lot.
