Before settling on the Innovation site, Mediatech looked around at other locations in other states. "We recognized the growing opportunities and resources Prince William County had to offer," company president Jim DeOlden says. "Additionally we recognized the advancing presence of biotechnology in the area and the potential opportunities to work closely with surrounding universities like George Mason as well as other top-quality biotechnology companies."
Both the county and the State of Virginia are participating in the facilitation of the Mediatech Development, giving $400,000 from the County Economic Development Opportunity Fund and $400,000 from the Governor's Opportunity Fund to the Industrial Development Authority for related infrastructural projects. Ground breaking for the development is expected to take place this summer, and Mediatech will relocate from its Herndon, VA corporate headquarters when the new building is up and running in 2006.
