In a joint venture with Mile High Development, headed by George Thorn, this fall they plan to break ground on the 58-unit first phase of the "Museum Residences" that will wrap around the 980-space Cultural Center Parking Garage at 13th Avenue and Broadway, behind the Denver Art Museum. A second phase will double the size.

In an architectural coup, the units will be designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, who also designed the art museum's addition. The museum addition will be Libeskind's first completed US project when it opens in 2006. But Libeskind is best known for conceiving the master plan for the 1,776-foot, $1.5-billion Freedom Tower to rise from the World Trade Center site in New York City. Libeskind, with the architectural firm Skidmore Owings & Merrill, are collaborating on the design for Freedom Tower, which will be the world's tallest skyscraper.

Moyski in March rejoined Trammell Crow Co., heading a new industrial division, after serving as president of Cherokee Denver for two years. At Cherokee, Moyski was in charge of redeveloping the former Gates site at Interstate 25 into a massive "urban village" that could have a completed valued estimated between $500 million and $1.5 billion. Before joining Cherokee about two years ago, Moyski had spent his entire career at Trammell Crow.

In addition to the joint venture with Thorn, Corporex, based in Covington, KY, recently paid about $19 million for the former headquarters for the local Comcast cable TV operation in the Inverness Business Park and last year opened the $24 million, 176-suite Embassy Suites hotel near Denver International. The 188 Inverness building was the first acquisition in a plan to acquire 1 million sf in office buildings locally.

Glen Sibley, vice president of Corporex Colorado, says he is looking forward to working with Moyski. "I've known Steve for about five years, but not closely, because we ran in different circles," Sibley tells GlobeSt.com. "I can't say that I've known him real well, but I will."
