The recent unveiling of the plan at a meeting of the two boards brought out substantial opposition from local residents, who expressed concerns about traffic and the potential burden on the local school district from the added residents. The site is also not far from nearly 500 residential units proposed for the area surrounding the Aberdeen-Matawan Train Station as part of a "transit village" project.
Officials of JSM have also requested a delay in an application hearing, scheduled for later this month. The likely date for that hearing is Sept. 8, according to local officials.
