The Palisades' Fox Sports Grill, owned and operated by Fox sports and B&B Restaurant Ventures LLC, will be the fourth to open nationally. Other locations include Scottsdale, AZ; Irvine, CA; and Seattle. Rockland County was selected on its favorable demographics and the significant retail traffic generated at the Palisades Center. The restaurant's proximity to Fox Sports headquarters in New York was also a factor, according to company officials.
"The vision behind Fox Sports Grill has always been to offer an outstanding sports and entertainment viewing environment complimented by a high-end dining experience," says Bill Freeman, president and chief executive officer of Fox Sports Grill.
The restaurant will feature 460 seats, a billiards room, a wine cellar, a circular dining room surrounded by a cascading waterfall, two fireplaces and a private-function room. The main bar will feature more than 32 plasma screens and three, 12-ft, high-definition screens. A 2,600-sf mezzanine with additional seating, billiards table and plasma screens will overlook the main bar and viewing area.
Zanaro's restaurant in White Plains is a 250-seat facility that contains rooms for private parties and meetings, including a special room inside the original bank vault that will be used for small meetings. The former Home Savings Bank first opened its doors on Dec. 21, 1925. Almost 40 years later, it was acquired by Greenpoint Savings Bank. Greenpoint occupied the building until recently when it relocated the bank branch to space within the City Center development on Mamaroneck Avenue.
"In creating our new Zanaro's restaurant, we were committed to maintaining the architectural integrity of this wonderfully historic building," says Zane Tankel, chief executive officer of Apple-Metro Inc., the parent company of Zanaro's.
The newly opened restaurant will act as a model for future Zanaro's locations, as the company begins to develop and grow this concept through the New York metropolitan area and beyond, company officials say. Apple-Metro Inc. is the New York metro area franchisee of Applebee's International Inc., owning exclusive franchise rights to Westchester and Rockland counties, as well the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Apple-Metro also operates three Chevys Fresh Mex restaurants.
