Terry Lowrey, Cawley Wilcox Cos.' senior vice president of development, has teamed with Brad Camp, president of Dallas-based Westwood Management, for the venture. Lowrey is president and Camp, chairman and majority owner.
"What brought us together," Lowrey tells GlobeSt.com, "was his land component." Camp owns several tracts in Frisco zoned for office and retail build-out. And, now he and Lowrey are searching the market to beef up the land portfolio, looking hard along the Dallas North Tollway, and talking to clients about spec development prospects.
"Creststone won't do any spec on its own," Lowrey says, "but we will do spec for a client. I'd like to have something under contract this year. I think that's doable." The first-year goal is to land one to three projects.
"We tend to believe like a lot of others in the industry that it seems to be picking up," Lowrey says. "If we position ourselves in the market, doing our job correctly, we should be able to be ready for the uptick."
Lowrey and Camp met on Cawley Wilcox's development of JPMorgan International Plaza. For the past year, Lowrey and Cawley's Todd Ashbrook shared top duties for the firm's development arm.
"He had an opportunity to be a principal," Bill Cawley, president of Cawley Wilcox, says of Lowrey's exit. "He was an integral part of our company, but he felt like he got an opportunity he couldn't pass up. We wish them both well."
