In the most current activity, the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority approved one of the most ambitious commercial real estate ventures yet attempted in suburban Atlanta--a two-phased, 1,384-acre campus comprising an office park, retail centers, condominium lofts, townhomes and single-family residences.
The project is tentatively called South Wind and is being developed within the Chattahoochee Village of South Fulton Parkway. The developer is Falling Water Co. of Norcross, hardly a recognizable name in local development circles, area brokers tell GlobeSt.com.
According to preliminary development plans filed with the Transportation Authority, the first 664-acre phase of the project, to be completed in 2005, will consist of 872 single-family homes, 196 townhomes, 10 tennis courts, two swimming pools, a three-mile hiking trail, two gymnasiums, a sports court and a playground.
The second 724-acre phase, already approved by Fulton County, will comprise an undetermined amount of office space and condominium lofts and 148 acres of retail, hotel and convention space. There will also be 268 acres of open space with 100 of those acres to be donated to the county as a public park.
