The health club, which will be operated by franchisees Mark and Karen Steinfield, is slated for a spring 2005 opening. It will be the third facility in Monmouth County operated by the pair--the others are located in Howell and Point Pleasant Beach. Statewide, Gold's Gym currently has a dozen facilities.
When completed, Pier Village itself will consist of 420 luxury residences and 100,000 sf of retail space. The Gold's signing brings the total committed retail space to 68,000 sf, according to Applied vice president Greg Russo.
The Baltimore-based firm of Williams Jackson Ewing is consulting on the retail component, which will consist of a mix of restaurants and fashion boutiques. The complex will also include a beach club.
