Director Boone A. Knox, chairman and CEO of the Knox Foundation, will replace Golden as chair of the board's audit committee, but Golden's seat on the board will not be immediately filled, the company says in a prepared statement.
"Over the years, Terry Golden has been an exemplary director, giving our board a unique perspective and providing excellent counsel to our management team," says Cousins president and CEO Thomas D. Bell Jr.
Bell also commended Knox for taking on the audit committee chairmanship. "With today's heightened level of scrutiny on public companies, his is a very important position and we are lucky to have someone of Boone's caliber available to serve."
Besides Bell and Knox, Cousins' board includes William Porter Payne, a partner with Gleacher Partners LLC; Lillian C. Giornelli, chairman and CEO of the Cousins Foundation Inc.; Richard W. Courts II, chairman, Atlantic Investment Co.; Hugh L. McColl Jr., chairman, McColl Brothers Lockwood; John Mack, retired CEO, Credit Suisse First Boston; and Erskine B. Bowles, chairman, Erskine Bowles & Co. Henry C. Goodrich is director emeritus.
