The award was given for its design of the Waterside Lofts at 1401 Wewatta St. It faces Cherry Creek and is at the edge of Lower Downtown. The 13-story, 163-unit building features varied floor plans--no two are alike. Units have steel balconies and bay windows.

Oz designed it with another local firm, Shears Adkins Architects. In 2001, it was named the Mixed-use Project of the Year, by the Franklin L. Burns School of Real Estate and the University of Denver. That year it also won a merit Award form the Northern Colorado chapter of the AIA.

The project was developed by Ray Suppa, head of RSD Corp. in Denver. His financial partner in the deal is locally based Hexagon Investments.
