The Tawfiks' project, Lovejoy Meadows, would be built on 24 acres on Lovejoy Road, next to the Clayton County line, according to preliminary development plans filed with the county. The developers want the land rezoned to allow high-density construction. The Tawfiks own GT Communities, a well-known Southside builder.
Lovejoy, a fast-growing Southside city, is expected to be the southernmost stop for the commuter rail service. Other developers, such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc., already are recognizing the strategic location of Lovejoy and have started new retail and residential construction in the area, brokers familiar with the submarket tell GlobeSt.com.
