The six-acre site in southwest Cobb County is at South Hurt and Hicks roads at the East-West Connector. The Atlanta Regional Commission has given Cobb County $815,000 in Livable Centers initiative grants to revive the commerce and economy in Mableton, a community of 30,000 permanent residents five miles west of Downtown.
An $800,000 grant will help construct a park-and-ride lot that will serve Cobb Community Transit and the $1.3-million, 1,400-seat Mable House Amphitheater that opened in 2003, according to staffers at the Cobb County board of commissioners. Another $15,000 grant will determine how to redevelop Mableton's old commercial district.
