The Hartland school board recently consolidated several departments, leaving the 10,000-sf Crouse Building at 3642 Washington St. as surplus. The property was put out for bid, with Victory Baptist Church bidding $2,000 more than the list price. The church currently does not have a permanent home, but had been renting a school district building for some of its Sunday school and other youth programs.
The two other bids for the building came from a day care facility called Lasting Impressions for $315,000 and the Livingston Church of Christ for $315,000.
The Robert Crouse Building opened September 1938 as the Hartland Area Recreation Cooperative, serving as a gym and cafeteria for the former high school at the corner of Avon and School streets, the remaining vacant district-owned building.
