Phil Ruschmeyer, a broker with the Frederick Ross Co., at the recent "Heavy Hitters" award luncheon, noted Brubaker was the broker everyone went to when they needed information about legislative issues. He always was on top of the latest changes in regulations that impacted his industry, Ruschmeyer notes.
Two days before he died, a 110-acre land deal that Brubaker had been working on for three years, closed. Indeed, he was the third-best land broker in 2003, according to DMCAR.
He also was a loving family man, noted Chris Graves, a distant relative of Brubaker's.
Graves noted that when he was 15, his mother died. Brubaker took him into his home in Boulder and raised him as a son.
