Barton Heads New Mohr Partners Office

To head its local and statewide operations, Mohr has recruited James Barton from the local office of Chicago-based Jones Lang LaSalle where he was vice president and leasing director for 16 years. Prior to his Jones Lang LaSalle stint, Barton worked as a leasing specialist and investment sales counselor at Jaymont Realty and the Galbreath Co., both former locally based firms.

In Barton, Mohr gets a commercial real estate professional with 25 years experience and one of the area's big leasing hitters. Barton has chalked up leasing deals totaling three million sf in his career to date. He has represented property owners and tenants in various transactions. Barton's peers at the Central Florida Commercial Real Estate Society rated him one of Orlando's Top Office Producers in 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2001.

His background includes leasing and marketing, tenant representation, land sales, lease negotiations, tenant improvement construction and building and project renovations. In 2001, Barton spearheaded the renovation of the landmark 200,000-sf Eola Park Centre office building Downtown.

Tom Wenkstern, managing partner and chief marketing officer at Mohr Partners, says Barton "has a history of strong commitment to the community through coordinating numerous community special events," such as Light-Up Orlando. He has served on the board of the Downtown Orlando Partnership and, in 2002, Barton earned the Golden Brick award for the highly successful promotion and production Festival Fridays Noontime Concert Series in Downtown Orlando.

Walking away from 16 years of production at Jones Lang LaSalle wasn't easy for Barton, but he says Mohr's "unique business model is very attractive to corporations and I anticipate that we will continue our growth as a major player in corporate real estate services in the Orlando area and throughout Florida." He calls his new position "a tremendous opportunity for me."
