The Santa Anita expansion is only the second Hy-Style center to open thus far in California, following the Oakridge Mall in San Jose, which added a new wing, more than 70 new retailers and approximately 300,000 sf of new space. The Santa Anita and Oakridge properties are among only a few Hy-Styles in the country to be completed, although Westfield has a number of others either in planning or under consideration and says that all of its proposed projects over the next three years will incorporate the Hy-Style approach.

The new shops and restaurants at the Santa Anita center join a mix of 151 specialty stores, four department stores, and a food court with 11 eateries at the original mall, which Hahn Development built in 1974 and Westfield acquired in 1998.
