The 17-acre site that the redevelopment agency bought is west of the Puente Hills Landfill and near the intersection of the 605 and 60 freeways. The building, which was constructed in 1979, is a single-story, concrete tilt-up facility with 90,000 sf of mezzanine office space. The city's plan is to ready it for use as a trash transfer site by completing entitlements and an environmental impact report, then selling it to the county sanitation operation, which has been looking for a facility in the area.
