On Nov. 2, voters will decide whether to extend the SCFD tax. Mayor John Hickenlooper has made passage of the SCFD tax and the $4.7-billion FasTracks tax increase his top priorities, often stumping four or five times a day for them.
The $1.3 billion includes $84 million spent on building and renovating cultural facilities, as well as $10 million in government grant money and $403 million generated from ticket sales, admission fees and related tourism. More than 11 million people last year attended arts and cultural events last year. That is far more than the 4.6 million people who attended all home games for the Colorado Rockies, the Denver Broncos, the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche.
