The Clearwater, FL-based moving specialist has just moved into 45,820 sf of Luna II at 2422 Luna Rd. in Carrollton. The 78,820-sf building, with 16 dock doors and 30-foot clear heights, is owned by locally based Billingsley Co., which sealed the deal with a team made up of former partner, Calvin Hull, now with Staubach Co., and Carter Crow, who's now its lead industrial leasing exec. Bill Obregon with CB Richard Ellis Inc. in Tampa represented PODS.
The Valwood submarket has been getting $4 per sf to $6.14 per sf for rents, according to a third-quarter report by Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc. The submarket's 24.3-million-sf inventory has a 15.4% vacancy.
The "Portable on Demand Storage" network consists of 295 locations, franchised and owned, in 5,800 cities in 39 states. Pods, founded in 1998, also has six manufacturing sites to produce the mobile white storage containers, which are put at customer's doorsteps for unpacking at their convenience. Last month, PODS marked its 200,000 customer, saying the servicing base had doubled in the past year.
