Schiegg, an internationally known hospitality industry professional for 38 years, comes to the five-year-old Radisson from the Sea Turtle Inn in nearby Atlantic Beach where he held the same position. Terms of his contract were not disclosed.
Kenneth P. Balin, president and CEO of Philadelphia-based AMC Delaney Group Inc., calls Schiegg "one of the most seasoned and respected general managers in the Jacksonville Industry." AMC and Paramount Hotel Group of Fairfield, NJ bought the former Southpoint Hotel in May of this year for an estimated $15 million or about $90,000 per room, as GlobeSt.com previously reported.
The partners are completing an estimated $5.6-million renovation of the property and plan to reopen the hotel under its new name in November. The hotel has been closed since the May 2004 transaction.
Schiegg was born in Switzerland and is a graduate of Gewerbeschule der Stadt Bern in Bern, Switzerland. He began his career as chef de cuisine at the Forte Hotel Resort in Bermuda in 1964 and has held general manager posts at the Crowne Plaza Sabal Plaza Park in Tampa; Crowne Plaza Park 10 in Houston; and Chateau LeMoyne Hotel in New Orleans.
