10/20/04: What will be the most important issue in the upcoming election?  It really comes down to either the economy, i.e. jobs, or security. However,  according to Straszheim Global Advisors' latest report, "Will Jobs Decide the  Election?", the incumbent's chances are not very good. Based on statistics compiled from elections dating back to 1964, when the growth rate in jobs in the  six months prior to election has been above.8%, the incumbent or his successor has won the election.  When growth has been below.8%, the race went to the challenger.  The economy's job growth in the past six months has been.7%, says Straszheim. However, times have changed in dramatic ways. So we're about to see if, for the first time since World War II, the electorate will vote its pocketbook or not.
