The proposal calls for the construction of a 24-story, 148-unit property that is located at the site of a former A&P supermarket. The building, which is located near Cappelli Enterprises City Center at White Plains development, will also include 60,000 sf of retail space on the bottom two floors.
Ginsburg officials say the condominium units will include a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes and two penthouse units. Pricing is expected to range from $450,000 for a 900-sf one-bedroom unit to $2.5 million for the 3,700-sf penthouses. The tower building is being designed by noted architect Michael Graves.
"Michael Graves has created a true signature building with two iconic spires that will be a new beacon on White Plains' emerging skyline," says Martin Ginsburg, the principal of GDC. Ginsburg is developing the site in partnership with Ridgemour-Meyer Properties, which began assembling the site three years ago.
To complete the site for the proposed Pinnacle project, the developer has requested that the City of White Plains condemn a parcel located at 240 Main St. at the corner of City Place. The parcel has been the subject of litigation involving several lawsuits challenging its acquisition by Louis Cappelli, the developer of the adjacent City Center property, Ginsburg officials say. At present, the 240 Main St. property consists of a bookstore, a deli and a coffee shop.
The project will require site plan approval from the City of White Plains. Ginsburg development officials say they hope to break ground on the project by the spring of next year.
