10/27/04: Here we are, just six days away from the Presidential election, and according to the pundits, the race is close, too close to call. Or is it? The most reliable poll tracker since 1956 has been--are you ready?--the "Weekly Reade"r. That's right, the grammar-school publication. Only once in 48 years has its reader poll incorrectly predicted the Presidential election outcome. This year's poll, which consists of 300,000 students, gives President Bush a landslide win with 66% of the vote. The rationale behind this poll's accuracy is that, unlike registered or likely voters, these respondents reflect what they hear in their own homes and are thus a true measure of the nation's heartbeat. By the way, in case you're wondering which election the "Weekly Reader" got wrong, it was the 1992 election that predicted President George H.W. Bush would be reelected, hands down. So much for polls.
