However, Randy Nichols, developer of the Clayton Lane development in Cherry Creek North, won in two categories--office and retail. And because of a technical snafu in the display, he was called up twice to receive awards. "I feel like I'm at the Academy Awards for Lord of the Rings," he joked.
Clayton Lane includes the world headquarters for the Janus family ofmutual funds, the first J.W. Marriott hotel in the state, some of the most expensive condominiums in the metro area, and soon-to-open retailers, anchored by Crate & Barrel.
The best industrial park was the Centerpark, a 540,000-sf distributioncenter near Interstate 70 and Pecos Street in northwest Denver. Lowe Enterprise Real Estate Group is the developer. In 2002, Lowe bought the former Keebler plant on the site, demolished it and built the new industrial campus.
The best multi-family award went to Greystar Real Estate Partners Westfor its Summit at FlatIrons in Broomfield, between Boulder and Denver, along the US 36 corridor. The project is next to the FlatIron regional mall and a new health club.
